PhD Student

We are looking for competitive candidates for an FPI grant offer associated with "Proyectos de Generación de Conocimiento 2024".

Project: Definicion y caracterizacion funcional de las RNA binding proteins (RBPome) y el splicing alternativo inducidos por Tgf-beta en las celulas estelares hepaticas (PID2023-152685OB-I00).

Principal Investigator: Marta Varela Rey.

Group: Gene Regulatory Control in Disease

Centre: Centre for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CiMUS)/University of Santiago de Compostela.

Description: Under the direction of Dr. Marta Varela Rey, the candidate will investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying hepatic cellular responses during chronic liver diseases of diverse etiologies, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and cholestatic disease, as well as the hepatic regenerative response after liver resection. The laboratory investigates multiple aspects of gene expression control, including transcriptional, translational and post-translational control mechanisms, with a particular focus on liver damage disorders and cancer development. Successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary team of computational, molecular and cell biologists.
