The placenta is crucial in mammalian reproduction, facilitating nutrient exchange and hormonal signaling between mother and fetus. Exploring its molecular intricacies is vital for understanding normal embryonic development and related pathologies, including tumorigenesis. By integrating insights from tumor and developmental biology, we unveil innovative therapeutic strategies to enhance outcomes for both pregnancy disorders and cancer.
Bio
Vicente Pérez García, Ph.D., specialized in PI3K signaling and cancer biology during his doctoral research at the National Centre for Biotechnology (Madrid) before moving to The Babraham Institute (Cambridge, UK) for postdoctoral studies on placenta development. He established his research group at CIPF (Valencia) in 2021 and joined CBMSO-CSIC (Madrid) in 2024 as a Científico Titular, investigating cell invasion in placenta and cancer.
