 Mahaman Moustapha Lamine

Director of the Department of Biological Sciences of the Faculty of Science and Technology. University André Salifou Zinder-Niger

12 April 2024 13:00–14:00

Theatre Room,  CiMUS

This conference explores cutting-edge knowledge from malaria studies in Niger, focusing on significant advances in parasitology research. Addressing diverse topics including genetic polymorphisms, treatment resistance and emerging pathogens such as Plasmodium vivax, it sheds light on the complex dynamics of malaria transmission and control in the region. Through a comprehensive analysis of epidemiological trends and public health implications, this presentation highlights crucial findings that inform strategies for effective malaria management and prevention in Niger and beyond.

Dr. Lamine Mahaman Moustapha is a seasoned parasitologist and immunologist, currently serving as a Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, Université André Salifou, Zinder (Niger). With a PhD in Biology and Human Pathology specializing in Parasitology from Cheikh Anta Diop University, Senegal, and extensive international experience including internships in France and research collaborations in Niger, he possesses a comprehensive understanding of malaria studies. His research interests encompass malaria epidemiology, treatment resistance, and emerging pathogens, as evidenced by his contributions to seminal publications such as the first identification of Microsporidia MB in Anopheles coluzzii. Dr. Moustapha's leadership as Head of Department and involvement in impactful projects like Impact-SMC Niger demonstrate his commitment to advancing parasitology research and combating malaria in Niger.

This lecture takes place within the framework programme Erasmus+KA107.
