Bio-inspired materials at the interface of living systems
Dr. Miguel A. Ramos Docampo
Assistant Professor, Laboratory for Adaptive Materials. Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University (Denmark)
Theatre room, CiMUS
About
In this talk, I will present two connected approaches to bio-inspired materials. First, I will discuss self-navigating nanomotors and how mathematical models help us understand their motion in complex environments. Then, I will introduce chiral plasmonic materials, from their self-assembly to their use as scaffolds for neuronal alignment and neurite outgrowth, towards adaptable living sensors.
Bio
Dr. Miguel A. Ramos Docampo is a materials chemist whose career bridges the gap between synthetic materials and biology, focusing on self-navigating nanotechnology. He currently serves as an assistan professor at the Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University, Denmark. As junior group leader of the Laboratory for Adaptive Materials, his research centers on active matter, chiral materials, and complex interfaces.
