Senescence Reversibility in CDK46i Therapy

Cellular senescence is classically considered irreversible. In ER+/HER2− breast cancer, CDK4/6 inhibitors (the standard first-line therapy) induce senescence, yet relapse after treatment withdrawal suggests this state may be reversible. We investigate whether CDK4/6 inhibition triggers a transient arrest rather than true senescence, potentially contributing to disease recurrence.
CV highlights:
He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Vigo in 2023, followed by a Master’s degree in Genetics and Genomics, during which he completed his Master’s Thesis in the Cellular Senescence, Cancer and Aging laboratory. Then, he joined the lab as a PhD student. His research focuses on the reversibility of therapy-induced senescence and on identifying biomarkers that predict sensitivity or resistance to these therapies.

CiMUS Computational Analysis Platform

Introducing the CiMUS Computational Analysis Platform, a service dedicated to the design, setup, and execution of standard omics pipelines, liaison with CESGA, management of computational resources, provision of technical support and advice.
CV highlights:
Jorge became interested in bioinformatics during his first postdoctoral position at the National Blood Service (London). Since then, he has worked at several research institutes and startup companies, including CNIO, CNIC, Fundación Jiménez Díaz, CSIC, the Sanger Institute, and EBI. His work has covered diverse areas such as cancer genomics, Biomart production, de novo genome assembly, regenerative agriculture, and computer vision applied to cancer immunotherapies. Currently, Jorge works in the Mobile Genomes Lab in Santiago de Compostela, where he is mainly involved in studying retrotransposition in cancer.
