Deciphering the lncRNA landscape in cholangiocarcinoma disease

 

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is an aggressive, heterogeneous cancer arising at any point of the biliary tree. Given that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are versatile regulators of biological processes and they can play key roles in the pathogenesis of several disorders, this project aims to identify and characterize novel lncRNAs potentially involved in CCA development.

CV highlights: 

Eva has a degree in Health Biology, a master’s in Bioinformatics and before starting the PhD, she worked as a bioinformatician at University of Malta. Since 2023, she has been a predoctoral researcher (FPI fellowship, Molecular Medicine PhD program) from the Liver Metabolism and Disorders Laboratory (LiMED) at CiMUS. Recently, she completed a research stay at the Functional and OMICs Analysis Group within the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Hub of the Institut Pasteur in Paris.

Reshaping radiotherapy in space and time: spatially fractionated and FLASH approaches for aggressive cancers

 

Radiotherapy remains constrained by normal-tissue toxicity and by radioresistant tumors, two obstacles that leave many aggressive cancers poorly controlled. Spatial dose fractionation and FLASH radiotherapy are emerging strategies to widen this therapeutic window. Using X-rays and protons in preclinical models, we assess antitumor efficacy and healthy-tissue sparing through long-term survival, histology, toxicity, and proteomic analyses.

CV highlights:

Loris Roncali is a postdoctoral researcher in the NARA Lab led by Prof. Yolanda Prezado. He obtained his PhD in oncology from the University of Angers (France) in 2023, where he developed a locoregional radioligand therapy with astatine-211 for glioblastoma. His research explores innovative radiotherapy approaches combining preclinical tumor models, imaging, molecular and omics analyses to better treat aggressive cancers.
