Development of new neuron-like cellular models for drug discovery in schizophrenia

Drug development is costly and time-consuming, often requiring the use of animal models; however, in vitro cellular models offer a simpler and more ethical alternative. The development of a cellular model mimicking cognitive deficits associated with schizophrenia by differentiating human tumour cells into neuron-like cells would be a useful tool for high-throughput screening campaigns, accelerating preclinical drug discovery.

An unbiased high-throughput screening identifies repurposing drugs and novel molecules that reduce proinflammatory cytokine secretion in the context of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune chronic disease characterized by progressive inflammatory synovitis. Available therapies target late stages of the inflammation process, when the microenvironment is highly inflammatory and therefore more challenging to control. Developing therapies targeting inflammation upstream would benefit RA patients. We identified and characterized novel and repurposing drugs capable of reducing the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines.
