Prothymosin α is a multifunctional protein involved in the proliferative activity and survival of mammalian cells. In the conference, the structural characteristics of this protein will be presented, as well as the molecular mechanisms by which prothymosin α is related to cellular activity.

Manuel Freire Rama, PhD from the USC, is Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the USC since 1986, with postdoctoral training in the Department of Biochemistry of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the USC and the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology (New Jersey, USA). Founder of the Department of Biochemistry of the Faculty of Biology, his research interests are related to the metabolism of carbohydrates and in the biology of thymosins.
