Molecular keys to health, disease and longevity: new frameworks of thinking

On Tuesday, 13th May at 13:00 pm, we will have the honour and privilege of welcoming Professor Carlos López-Otín, one of the most prominent figures in biomedical science in Spain and worldwide. An tireless researcher, brilliant communicator, and profound humanist, López-Otín has dedicated his life to the study of cancer, ageing, and rare diseases, illuminating the great challenges of 21st-century medicine with his work and words.

On this occasion, he will offer an inspiring talk where he will explain his latest work and reflect on the present and, above all, the future of biomedicine: the paths that open up, the discoveries that transform lives, and the role that science must play in a fairer, healthier, and more humane society. It will be a close, inspiring moment full of humanity, where science meets the essential questions of life.

Afterwards, there will be a space for dialogue and reflection, in which Professor Carlos López-Otín will converse with researcher Dr Ricardo Villa-Bellosta from CiMUS. Together, they will invite us to explore some of the topics that affect us all: life, science, time, and the profound meaning of our existence.

Finally, at 6:00 pm, Professor Carlos López-Otín will offer a very special lecture on the occasion of the presentation of his latest book, "La levedad de las libélulas", in the Ramón y Cajal Aula Magna of the Faculty of Biology at the University of Santiago de Compostela. After the talk, there will be a book signing. An unmissable event with science, literature, and the beauty of what makes us human. On this occasion, entry will be free until full capacity is reached.
