Manuel Carreiras Valiñas & Ana María Fernández Arín
Scientific Director & Manager of the BCBL (Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language, Donostia - San Sebastian)
Theatre room, virtual
The scientific director and the general manager of the BCBL—one of the leading international centers for interdisciplinary research on cognition, the brain, and language—will offer a presentation on the center’s scientific vision, organizational model, and historical evolution. They will also share their experience in the excellence accreditation processes of the SOMMa alliance (Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu). In addition, they will provide insights into scientific management, excellence strategies, and the international positioning of research centers.
Founded in 2008 in Donostia–San Sebastián, the BCBL has established itself as a center of excellence in cognitive neuroscience, with a special focus on language processing and bilingualism, researcher training, and the transfer of knowledge to society and industry.
This meeting offers a unique opportunity to learn first-hand how a reference research center designs its scientific strategy, manages its resources, and participates in national and international excellence networks—sharing valuable lessons for professionals, students, and research managers interested in the organization and evaluation of research centers.
This session is primarily aimed at center directors and management profiles, and may also be of interest to group leaders.
