CiMUS Commemorates the Rare Disease Day with an Event Focused on Progeria

The Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CiMUS) at the University of Santiago de Compostela is honored to invite you to a special event on the occasion of Rare Disease Day (February 28, 2025). This year, our focus is on progeria, a disease that affects children worldwide, causing premature aging.
This event, organized and moderated by Dr. Ricardo Villa-Bellosta, principal investigator at CiMUS, will give us the opportunity to hear from two leading figures in the fight against this disease: Dr. Scott D. Berns and Dr. Leslie B. Gordon, co-founders of the Progeria Research Foundation (USA), a pioneering organization in the research and development of treatments for progeria on a global scale. Their presence is a privilege and a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about research advancements and the hope they bring to affected children and their families. Additionally, we will hear from Esther Martínez Gracia, co-founder of the Asociación Progeria in Spain, whose tireless work has been key in supporting families and raising awareness of this disease in our country.
Their stories and dedication will remind us of the importance of solidarity and commitment in the fight against rare diseases. This event is a scientific dissemination day and a gathering of inspiration and hope. We aim to give a voice to those living with progeria and to reinforce the commitment of both the scientific community and society in the search for solutions.
We invite you to join us at CiMUS, where science, commitment, and humanity will come together to continue advancing research and improving the quality of life of those affected by rare diseases, including progeria.

We look forward to seeing you!

We would appreciate it if you could confirm your attendance via the following link. This will allow us to adjust the space according to the number of attendees.

Attendance certificates will be provided upon request to cimus.xestion [at] usc.es (cimus[dot]xestion[at]usc[dot]es) for all registered participants.
