'Roles of Eukaryotic Initiation Factor 5A2 in Lung Cancer'

One of the molecular targets of polyamines is the translation factor eIF5A, an essential and evolutionarily conserved protein. eIF5A is the only cellular protein that contains the unusual amino acid hypusine that derives from the spermidine.

In humans, there are two isoforms, eIF5A1 and eIF5A2. eIF5A2 is located on chromosome 3q26, a region frequently amplified in many tumors, and is highly expressed in several cancers including Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). We focus on the molecular roles of eIF5A2 in human lung cancer
