About:
The Laboratory of Neuropharmacology and Pre-Clinical Toxicology (LABNET/UFRGS) develops research in the area of experimental pharmacology and toxicology, through tests with rodents and the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans for the evaluation of natural products, isolated compounds and synthetic compounds. We used different strains of C. elegans to evaluate toxicity parameters such as survival, development, and oxidative stress.
Bio:
Patricia Pereira has a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Santa Maria (1994), a master's degree (1997) and a doctorate (2002) in Biological Sciences: Biochemistry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. She coordinated the Postgraduate Program in Biological Sciences: Pharmacology and Therapeutics (2016-2018), at UFRGS, where she supervises master's and doctoral students. Her lines of research include investigations in the pharmacology of the central nervous system and basic toxicology of natural and synthetic products, in rodents and the C. elegans model.
