Samir Mitragotri's research is focused on drug delivery. In particular, he has developed transdermal, oral and targeted drug delivery systems. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and National Academy of Medicine (NAM), and an elected fellow of National Academy of Inventors (NAI), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Controlled Release Society (CRS), Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), and American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). He is an author of over 230 publications, an inventor on over 160 patents/patent applications. He is a recipient of AIChE's Colburn award; Acrivos Professional Progress award, and SFB's Clemson award. Prof. Mitragotri is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the Society for Biological Engineering's (SBE) journal Bioengineering and Translational Medicine.

About

Samir Mitragotri is Hiller Professor of Bioengineering and Hansjorg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University. He is also a core faculty member at Wyss Institute. Prior to Harvard, he was Mellichamp Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Prof. Mitragotri received BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Bombay and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
