ERC-funded post-doctoral position - Ribosome function in Schwann cell myelination

Postdoctoral offer -ERC funded

ERCThe Gene Regulatory Control in Disease group at CiMUS/University of Santiago de Compostela (International Campus of Excellence), Spain is seeking to recruit a motivated individual to fill a postdoctoral position on the regulation of mRNA translation in Schwann cell biology and pathology. The laboratory investigates gene regulatory mechanisms in Schwann cell biology with a particular focus on demyelinating disorders, cancer, and nerve repair. The successful candidates will be integrated in a multidisciplinary team comprising computational, molecular and cellular biologists You will use cutting-edge approaches such as Cryo-EM, TRAP-seq, Ribo-seq and ribosome profiling, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, and CLIP-seq. This ERC funded position will use these approaches to discover how ribosomal function is regulated in Schwann cells during development and in pathological conditions.

Minimum qualifications:
We are looking for exceptional candidates with a recent PhD in biomedical-related sciences, a record of productive research, and the ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts.

Preferred qualifications:
A strong background in protein and RNA biochemistry and molecular biology, and a keen interest in the ribosome and biophysical and kinetic methods and/or computational biology are highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Application instructions:
Interested applicants can send a short description of research interest, a curriculum vitae and letters of reference to Dr Ashwin Woodhoo, ashwin.woodhoo [at] usc.es (ashwin[dot]woodhoo[at]usc[dot]es)
