CiMUS Update

Alteracións neuroendocrinas dos circuitos hipotalámicos na obesidade

Ismael González García

Ramón y Cajal Researcher. Neuroendocrine Regulation of Metabolism Group, CiMUS

15 Setembro 2023 13:00–14:00

Theatre Room, CiMUS

About:
Multiple hormonal cues converge in the hypothalamus to help determine and maintain an organism’s body weight. Our recent studies have shown how melanocortin neurons integrate endocrine inputs from gonadal and adipose axes, thereby contributing to the sexual dimorphism in diet-induced obesity. We have also explored how insulin signalling in astrocytes regulates systemic glucose homeostasis and adiposity.

Bio:
PhD at USC (2018). Postdoc at Helmholtz Munich, (2018 to 2022, supervisor Prof. García-Cáceres). Ramón y Cajal at CiMUS since 2023, he is the PI at the Neuroendocrine Regulation of Metabolism research group.
