Yolanda Prezado
Since February 2024, she has been an Oportunius Distinguished Researcher at CiMUS and an ERC consolidator grantee. Previously, she was Senior Group Leader in Translational Radiobiology at Institut Curie, Research Director at CNRS, and board-certified Clinical Medical Physicist. Since 2011, she held a permanent research position at the CNRS and has led the "New Approaches in Radiotherapy" team since 2013. In 2021, she received the M. and Mime Peyre Prize from the French Academy of Science for her work in proton therapy.
She has a multidisciplinary background spanning medical physics and radiobiology.
She has served as Chair of the Scientific Committee of the European Federation of Medical Physics (EFOMP), representing more than 8,000 medical physicists across Europe; Vice-Chair of the international Biophysics Collaboration; Chair of numerous working groups and committees. She is regularly invited to serve on evaluation panels such as FWO or HCERES (the French agency responsible for evaluating research laboratories), and is frequently a member of the scientific committees of the leading congresses in her field. She is also regularly selected as an evaluator for prestigious funding programmes, including the ERC and Horizon 2020. She was appointed President of the 2024 European Congress of Medical Physics.
She has supervised 12 PhD theses and more than 15 postdoctoral researchers. Over the past 5 years, she has secured more than €5 million in research funding. She maintains collaborations with leading companies in the radiotherapy sector and has obtained several industry-funded grants. She has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, the majority as first or corresponding author, as well as 12 invited review articles in leading journals in the field. She is internationally recognized as a leading expert in innovative radiotherapy techniques. She has delivered more than 100 conference presentations, including over 50 invited keynote and plenary lectures.
