Behind the scenes at Cell Metabolism
Mari Carmen Fernández Agüera
Scientific Editor. Cell Press
Theatre room, CiMUS
About:
Publishing a research paper is the culmination of a scientific project. However, the path to publication, as research itself, is not always a straightforward one. In this presentation, I’ll talk about what we look for in manuscripts, our editorial workflow and provide tips for effective communication with editors and reviewers. And also, I’ll share my view on the good and not-so-good aspects of the scientific editor job.
Bio:
Mari-Carmen received her PhD at the University of Seville, where she studied the molecular mechanism of acute oxygen sensing in Dr. Lopez-Barneo’s lab at the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBiS). Then she joined Dr. Danial's lab at DFCI/Harvard (USA) to study the effects of different nutrient utilization on neuronal excitability. Mari-Carmen joined Cell Metabolism in 2020 as a Scientific Editor.
