A contract is offered, together with the possibility of undertaking a Master’s Dissertation and/or a Doctoral Thesis – Platelet Proteomics Group

Master's Thesis and/or PhD Student

We are seeking a candidate to undertake a Master’s Dissertation (TFM) and/or a Doctoral Thesis (a one-year contract is offered and there is the possibility of applying for CiMUS-specific funding schemes or predoctoral contracts funded by the Xunta de Galicia) within the Platelet Proteomics Group at CiMUS. Applicants are required to have achieved an average undergraduate degree mark of over 7.5 out of 10.

The PhD project would focus on one of the funded research lines of the group, led by Professor Ángel García, which is centred on platelet and extracellular vesicle studies aimed at identifying biomarkers and therapeutic targets in obesity and cardiovascular disease. This project builds upon doctoral theses currently being successfully completed within the research group. The successful candidate would work under the supervision of Professor García and PhD students within the group who are experts in the field. The project involves proteomic and functional studies of platelets, as well as the modulation of their interaction with the endothelium, through the use of in vitro assays (platelet aggregation, spreading and activation) and ex vivo models (microfluidics and vessel-on-a-chip systems), among others.
