MSCA DN-InnovaRTBRAIN: Innovative Radiation Therapy for Brain Tumours
This doctoral network develops next-generation radiotherapy strategies for the treatment of glioblastoma (GBM), integrating:
- FLASH radiotherapy
- Minibeam radiation
- Targeted alpha therapy (TAT)
- Radioimmunotherapy
InnovaRTBRAIN is a European project launched with the ambitious goal of transforming current approaches to the treatment of brain tumours, particularly gliomas, and designing new radiotherapy strategies that are more effective and, ultimately, safer. The project is funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Networks programme and brings together an international network of universities, research centres, hospitals and technology companies from several European countries.
InnovaRTBRAIN is coordinated by CiMUS at the University of Santiago de Compostela and brings together professionals from the fields of medical physics, biology, engineering and radiation oncology in a joint effort to shape the future of radiotherapy. Participating institutions include the DKFZ German Cancer Research Center, the University of Antwerp, INEM – Institut Necker Enfants Malades, the University of Oslo and the University of Pavia, as well as companies such as Varian Medical Systems, Batea Oncology and Xstrahl.
Doctoral candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment spanning physics, biology, immunology, engineering and clinical translation.
Contract duration: 36 months.
Requirements:
- Candidates must not hold a PhD degree at the time of recruitment and must comply with the mobility rule, meaning that they must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the host institution for more than 12 months during the 36 months prior to recruitment.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
Interested candidates should send their CV, motivation letter, contact details for two referees, and academic transcript to the contact person for the PhD project they are interested in.
A total of 14 PhD positions are available across all participating institutions. Please see the attached PDF for further information on the available positions, including the required qualifications and the email address of the contact person for each project.
