CiMUS researcher Carlos Diéguez (USC) will deliver the Alison Douglas Lecture at the upcoming international meeting of predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers “Neuroendo Celebrate 2026”, organized by the British Society for Neuroendocrinology.

The meeting, which will take place in September 2026, recognises each year leading figures in neuroendocrinology for their scientific excellence and their commitment to supporting the next generation of researchers. 

Carlos Diéguez’s scientific career has focused on the study of hypothalamic regulation of anterior pituitary hormone secretion and energy balance. His research has made decisive contributions to understanding how metabolic signals such as leptin and ghrelin modulate hormone secretion, as well as the reciprocal relationship between pituitary hormonal axes and energy homeostasis. His work has also advanced knowledge of the complex hypothalamic pathways that coordinate these physiological processes and the role of different cell types—including neurons and glial cells—as well as cellular energy sensors in regulating organismal homeostasis.

During his lecture at Neuroendo Celebrate 2026, the CiMUS researcher will address recent advances in understanding the mechanisms by which the hypothalamus integrates energy signals and regulates essential homeostatic processes.

The Alison Douglas Lecture, promoted by the British Society for Neuroendocrinology, honours Professor Alison Douglas, an international reference in reproductive neuroendocrinology and a strong advocate for the development of early‑career researchers.
