We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student with a background in biology to join our recently established BIOMBRT consortium (University of Santiago de Compostela, ASRN, IGR, University of Pavia, CIEMAT, ENEA). Supported by the PianoForte Partnership, we will investigate the biological effects of spatial variations in dose distribution with the aim of reducing radiation-induced toxicities in healthy tissue through an innovative technique known as minibeam radiation therapy (MBRT). The project coordinator, Yolanda Prezado (University of Santiago de Compostela), a pioneer in this technique, has demonstrated that MBRT has the potential to reduce side effects and improve tolerance to high-dose radiotherapy.
The successful candidate will be based at one of Spain’s leading research centres, CIMUS. Their work will focus on understanding the mechanisms of healthy tissue preservation induced by MBRT and will combine cutting-edge irradiation techniques with multi-omics analyses.
Interested candidates can contact Yolanda.prezado@usc.es, sending their CV and the contact details of two referees. The expected start date is 1 February 2026.
