BioFarma Group of USC, wins GCiencia Galicia Spin-off awards

The USC CiMUS group, BioFarma, coordinated by Mabel Loza, has just been recognised in the framework of the GCiencia Galicia Spin-Off awards in the category of Research Groups, awards that distinguish, since 2015, the most innovative companies and research groups.

The group has a track record of almost two decades in which it participated in the research of 15 new chemical entities, which reached clinical trials through drug discovery initiatives. The jury particularly valued ‘the fact that it is a group led by a woman, which highlights the growing role of women in science and research in Galicia’.

The jury of the GCiencia Galicia Spin-Off Awards was composed in this edition by the researcher of the University of Caen Alicia Bruzos; the general sub-director of Scientific Promotion and University Technology of the Xunta de Galicia, Irene Bonome; by the director of Investment of Unirisco, Pablo Mosquera; by the president of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Galicia, Luciano Fariña, and by the director of GCiencia, Pablo López.

The high quality of the nominations presented for these awards was the common denominator in the three categories of these awards that annually distinguish the most innovative companies and groups in Galicia.
