Carrizo Secondary School will be named after scientist María José Alonso

The Santa María de Carrizo Secondary School will be renamed Doctora María José Alonso. The school thus adopts the name of one of its most illustrious neighbours, the scientist María José Alonso, who was born in this town in 1958, a reference in Spanish research and winner of the 2021 National Research Award.

The Castilla y León Regional Ministry of Education has already authorised the change of name, which will appear on the facade of the building, in a visible place, below the educational administration's sign.

The CiMUS researcher of the USC wanted to express her gratitude for this recognition, acknowledging that "No other recognition has touched my heart as much as this one has. The warmth and affection of my people make me immensely happy. Going through high school was the reason for my career".
