CiMUS science on the functioning of viruses in the G-Night <<A noite galega das persoas investigadoras>>
Tomorrow, Friday 27 September, from 18:00 to 21:00, the CiMUS will be in the cloister of the Fonseca School of Santiago in <<A Noite Galega das Persoas Investigadoras>> to bring to the street part of the research that is done in this Singular Centre of the USC. This will be done by its main researcher, José A. Costoya, who is also the coordinator of this day in Santiago, and his team from the Molecular Oncology Laboratory with the workshop ‘This washing or how to fight against the invisible’.
‘A simple way to protect ourselves against microorganisms is to wash our hands properly. In this workshop we will make a model of a virus using kitchen material and we will see how soap affects its structure,’ explains José Costoya.
Dissemination
The European Researchers' Night is a scientific dissemination project promoted by the European Commission as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions of the Horizon Europe programme, which has been taking place simultaneously in nearly 400 European cities since 2005. Researchers take centre stage, showing the diversity of science and technology and their impact on the lives of citizens. For the fourth consecutive year, CiMUS will participate in this event in Santiago de Compostela with a scientific workshop on the functioning of viruses for all audiences.
