CiMUS of USC toasts the health of female neuroscientists at the "Cheers to Women in Neuroscience" conference

  • The first edition of this informative meeting is organised by CiMUS researcher Ana Isabel Rodríguez, in collaboration with the Spanish Society of Neuroscience.
  • Brain plasticity, the keys to the scientist who revolutionised neuroscience, Rita Levi-Montalcini, and "butterflies of the soul", the women of the Cajal School, will be the focus of the conference's themes.
  • It will take place on Thursday 22 February at 19:00h in A Nave de Vidán (Av. Mestra Victoria, 44, Santiago).

The USC CiMUS is extending its commemorative programme for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2024 with an informative conference on neuroscience and the role of women in this field. This is the meeting "Cheers to women in neuroscience", organised by the principal investigator of the USC centre, Ana Isabel Rodríguez, as a member of the Women's Committee of the Spanish Society of Neuroscience (SENC). It is an event inspired by the successful international science popularisation movement "Pint of Science", which seeks to encourage the interest and vocation of girls and young women towards neuroscience.
"Abrir la ciencia a la sociedad, en este caso a través de lugares de ocio como los bares, es nuestro objetivo con la celebración de esta jornada" says CiMUS researcher Ana Isabel Rodríguez. "Aclarando las bases de la plasticidad cerebral", by Alba Vieites Prado, "Rita Levi-Montalcini, la científica que revolucionó la neurociencia", by Rita Valenzuela and "Ellas: esas mariposas del alma", by the organiser herself, Ana Isabel Rodríguez, are the topics chosen for this toast with a woman's name.

The event will take place next Thursday, 22 February, at 19:00, at A Nave de Vidán (Av. Mestra Victoria, 44, Santiago de Compostela).
