CiMUS welcomes the participants of the 2026 Summer School research programme

The 2026 edition of the CiMUS Summer School is now underway, with ten undergraduate students joining the Centre for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CiMUS) at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela for a month-long research placement.

Selected through the Centre's competitive summer programme, the students have begun working alongside CiMUS research groups on projects addressing some of today's most pressing challenges in biomedicine. Throughout July, they will gain first-hand experience of the daily work carried out in an international research environment, exploring topics at the forefront of molecular medicine and chronic disease research.

Under the supervision of CiMUS principal investigators and research staff, participants will acquire practical laboratory skills, become familiar with state-of-the-art scientific equipment and methodologies, and take part in the scientific activities organised by the Centre during their stay. The programme offers students an invaluable opportunity to discover biomedical research from within while developing technical competencies and strengthening their interest in pursuing research careers.

Now in its ninth edition, the CiMUS Summer School continues to foster early scientific talent by providing outstanding undergraduate students with an immersive introduction to biomedical research and the opportunity to work alongside leading researchers in a multidisciplinary environment

CiMUS is recognised by the Xunta de Galicia as a member of the CIGUS Network of Research Centres (ED431G/2023/02), a distinction that acknowledges the quality and impact of its scientific research. The Centre receives funding from the Consellería de Educación, Ciencia, Universidades e Formación Profesional and is co-funded by the European Union through the Galicia EDRF 2021–2027 Programme.
