Alejandro Briones Contreras

Briones trained as a biologist at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). He completed his Ph.D. in the Physiopathology of T Cells group at the UCM Faculty of Medicine, where he worked on the characterization of genetic immunodeficiencies related to the T-cell receptor (TCR). After his Ph.D., Alejandro conducted postdoctoral research at the National Center for Microbiology, studying the role of PI3 kinases in T lymphocytes and inflammation. In 2024 he joined the Immunity and Small Molecules group led by Dr. Iria Gómez Touriño at CiMUS. His current research focuses on identifying novel autoantigens of MAIT cells in Type 1 Diabetes.
