Helena Covelo Molares is a postdoctoral researcher interested in the role of RNA modifications in physiological and pathological conditions and cell fate transitions. She carried her Ph.D. (December 2020) in the RNA Quality Control group at the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC)-Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic), under the supervision of Prof. Štěpánka Vaňáčová. Her thesis was focused on the role of RNA methylation and the factors that deposit and remove epitranscriptomic marks in the early life of RNAs. Then, she joined CiMUS-USC to continue exploring the role of RNA modifications in disease and in 2022 she was awarded a Margarita Salas postdoctoral fellowship. Her current research is funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), under the project “Sello de Excelencia ISCIII-HEALTH” (2023-2025).
