Dr Ashwin Woodhoo (Mauritius, 1978) started his research career in the group of his mentors Profs. Kristján R. Jessen and Rhona Mirsky at University College London as a PhD student (2007), before joining the CIC bioGUNE as a Ramón y Cajal fellow (2010 – 2015) in the group of Prof José María Mato. He was Ikerbasque Research Professor at CIC bioGUNE before joining CiMUS-USC in 2021 as part of the Oportunius Program from the Xunta de Galicia.

His work has received funding from the Instituto Carlos III, Fundación Científica AECC, Spanish Ministry of Science, Basque Department of Education, Fundación BBVA, Royal Society and the European Research Council (Consolidator Grant).
